The Podcast Consumer Revealed

Edison Research has released the audio presentation and slides for a study that they did entitled The Podcast Consumer Revealed. There is a lot of golden information in this study that can help Podcasters devise ways to make money from their Podcast, and for companies to consider when exploring sponsorship and advertising opportunities in the Podcast space.

Is it just me, or did they get just a little bit confused about who a “podcaster” was and who a “podcast listener” is? Other than that, I think this a really good survey and pretty accurate to what I have seen in the community.

  2. Mark Says:

You’re right, James. During a presentation of the study by Tom Webster (Edison Research) at the Corporate Podcasting Summit, Tom told the audience that for the purpose of the presentation, “Podcaster” meant Podcast listener.

  3. Tom Webster Says:

I hoped that this was clear during the talk, if not from the “base” listed for many of the slides, but I realize that I had a tendency to say “podcasters” a few times when I meant to say “podcast listeners”. The podcast is now on the iTunes Music Store, by the way–details and the link are on our blog, The Infinite Dial, and the slides can be downloaded from our main site at edisonresearch.com. Thanks, Mark–enjoyed meeting you at the Summit!
