Seven songs I’m into right now

On May 9, Ajay tagged me in a post he did about seven songs he’s into right now — or, at the time anyway. Here is my long overdue list:

I wonder what Bob Goyetche, Jeff Parks, Terry Fallis and David Jones, Chris Brogan and Sage Tyrtle are listening to.

  1. Hi Mark,

I’m listening to: Old Man – Neil Young Live at Massey Hall 1971; Nowhere to Go But Up – Skydiggers and the Cash Brothers; Strung Out In Saskatoon – Crush; Harbour LeCou – Great Big Sea; Janie’s Got A Gun – Aerosmith; American Psycho – Treble Charger; Talk To Ya Later – The Tubes.

  2. Terry`s been listening to the same songs since I`ve known him. I promise that my list will have tunes from this year, this decade, this century.

  3. Spur 58
    All We Can Say
(yes, this is Christian pop, yes, I am an atheist, no, I can’t explain my fascination either)

    Richard Shindell
    Wisteria
(the lovely story of coming back to see a house he once owned)

    Passion
    Farewell Letter
    (Broadway musical. Don’t tell anybody.)

    Kurt Elling
Leaving Again / The The Wee Small Hours
    (jazz)

    Porter Block
    Down Down Down
(I’m convinced the songwriter grew up in the same California neighbourhood I did. Because…yeah. It’s like that there.)

    Mussorgsky
    Sempre moderato pesante
    (classical)

    The Majestic Twelve
    Condoleezza, Check My Posse
(they made a round – like when you have 3 people singing “Row Row Row Your Boat” – using evil people’s names, which WORKS, except then you find yourself walking down the sidewalk singing “Ann Coulter / Ann Coulter / Rush Limbaugh” and people are afraid of you)

Also: there are no Muppet songs on my list. (At our house, vampires and zombies are de rigeur, Muppets are shunned as evil entities by the junior member of the household.) If there were a Muppet song, however, it would be: “I’m Going to Go Back There Someday”.
