Portland, Oregon podcasters unite!

I’m in Portland to meet with a client and deliver a presentation at a conference this weekend.  When I woke up this morning, I discovered and email from Andrea pointing out that there are 98 people on the Portland Podcasting waiting list.  So, I created the Portland Podcasting and New Media group on meetup.com this morning.

I have time tonight (September 25) and would like to get together with everyone and help you guys kick off your community.

I’m staying near the airport and don’t know the area very well. So, I’m counting on the Portland folks to help pick a mutually convenient location for tonight’s meetup. I put 7pm as the start time as a balance point between those with families and those without. I can meet earlier than that. Oh, and people who can’t arrive at 7pm can definitely arrive late.

Since there are 98 people on the waiting list, we need to find a place that can accommodate a large group. Let’s assume that we could get as many as 40 for this event. If we see that RSVP’s are coming in heavy on the Yes and that 40 won’t be enough, we can scout another location.

Let’s get this thing going!!! Tonight!!!

    Hey far-away man!

Kicking Off somebody’s community? Sounds a bit like an invitation to a night of vandalism…

  2. Tom Better Says:

I have listened to some of your podcasts and they don’t seem very special to me. Why would I want to meet you again? eh?

  3. Andrea Says:

Hey, ya, that is a great point. I am really getting tired of communitizing and socializing with people whose podcasts just don’t seem special enough to me.

Thanks to Tim Garrett for recommending a meetup place. We will meet at Lucky Lab in SE Portland, 915 SE Hawthorne Blvd. (Thanks to Tim Garrett for the suggestion)

    I-5 from the North:
Take the OMSI/Oregon City/City Center exit. The exit also goes
downtown, but stay to the left after the exit and go away from
    the river.
Keep going straight and you’ll be on Belmont St., coming off of
    the bridge.
Turn right from Belmont onto 7th Avenue.
At the second traffic light (Hawthorne Blvd.), turn left. The
pub is 2 1/2 blocks up Hawthorne on the left side of the
street. The parking lot is behind the building on the corner of
    9th & Madison.

    I-5 from the South:
Take the Central Eastside Industrial District exit (a.k.a.
    Water Ave.).
At the stop sign, turn right onto Water Avenue.

    I-84 from the East:
When you reach Interstate 5, you will have a choice of north or
south. Go to the left towards I-5 South, but stay in the right
    lane after the split.
Take the OMSI/Oregon City/City Center exit (if you stay in the
right lane you have to take this). The exit also goes downtown,
but stay to the left after the exit and go away from the river.

    of the bridge.

    Highway 26 from the West:
When you reach the Vista Ridge Tunnel just before downtown, be
in the right lane and take the I-405/Salem/The Dalles exit.
When you get onto I-405 South, follow the signs for I-84/The
Dalles. The right 2 lanes will take you over the Marquam Bridge.
Take the first exit after the bridge (Central Eastside
