Interrupting the Age of Persuasion

One of CBC radio’s best offerings, a weekly documentary on the history of marketing and public relations, is not in the fall 2008 schedule. That’s right… The Age of Persuasion will go back into remission, falling into the down curve of the on-again-off-again nature of the show as accepted by the program’s cult following.

Fortunately, the back catalog from 2007 is being trickled out on the show’s website which goes to show you that in this topsy-turvy world of terrestrial radio and digital media, there are many opportunities for disappointment and excitement in The Age of Persuasion.

Always a show that I looked forward to. Thanks for the heads-up about the archives.

    Sad news.
A superbly produced radio show. One of the very few for which I turn on my Model One (that’s my kitchen radio) at will.

Still, I read on the website that there are plans for producing “a crop of new shows”.
This is a good time to check the archives, which I will.

The show’s website is functional and I was able to stream even behind the “cruel” firewall at the office. Which I can’t say of another CBC show…just read my blog -)

  3. Dave Brodbeck Says:

This is the reason I still listen to CBC, the Age is a GREAT show.

  4. Cath Says:

I’d happily follow AOP from the CBC to any radio network smart enough to pick it up.

  5. Colin Boehner Says:

I was devastated last Saturday afternoon when The Age was a no show. What next…Vinyl Cafe….

Just a note about our show, The Age of Persuasion. We are essentially a January to August show. We have gone on hiatus every year from September to end of December. But this year, we’re still on Sirius every Saturday night at 9:30pm, and in smaller markets Thursdays at 3:30pm.

Looks like we’ll be back for a fourth season in 2009 - which is great news. Fresh episodes begin in January.

Thanks for all the kind words about the show!

  7. Mark Says:

Thanks for the comment, Terry. We fans of the show are a hard core and loyal (to a fault) bunch.

    I’m looking forward to January.
