Andrea and I have been doing some audio recording that documents the process we’ve been going through since Andrea was diagnosed with breast cancer on October 6. The plan is to document our experiences and how we handle them as we work towards Andrea becoming a breast cancer survivor.
The most difficult part has been coming up with a name for our podcast/blog. So, we’ve grabbed a few of our favourites and decided to put it out to a vote and more suggestions.
We’d be grateful if you’d take the time to vote, add a suggestion and even leave a comment.

I voted for “In the pink”.
For me, “pink” is immediately associated with experience with breast cancer. The other titles were too cryptic for me. I do not know you and your stories, so I cannot easily associate with any insider joke, although I can sense them. But I chose the “generic” title that would speak to me right away.
And I liked the possible pun that resounds in the “In the pink!” for whoever wants to hear it.

Personally, I kind of think the pink and breast puns have been done already. I like Swerve – because that is exactly what you life does when you find out you (or the person you love) has breast cancer.

Thanks so much for your vote and for taking the time to share your thoughts, Otir. You raise some great points.
I’m really excited about doing this project with Andrea. When she suggested we do the podcast, I didn’t realize how therapeutic it would be just thinking about being that open with what we’re going through and sharing how we’re handling things in the hopes that others may find it helpful.
We’re feeling particularly good today since we received good news about Andrea’s second surgery. The surgeon removed an additional nine lymph nodes to determine if there was any spread of the cancer and they were all clear! Woohoo!!!

I agree with Otir about the understandableness (is that a word?) of “In the Pink.”
Hope all is going well. I heard a little despair when Andrea had to have another surgery — I did, too — doc didn’t get “clean margins” the first time.
Stay tough. Kick Cancer’s Ass even if you don’t pick that for your name!

I read a book a while ago called “The Red Devil” about a woman with breast cancer. So why not “beating the devil?”

I’m with Laurie — Swerve is my favourite, as this loop we’ve been thrown on isn’t so much about what caused it as it is about how it changes almost everything about life

I currently have a streak of pink hair left over from the Komen 3Day 60 mile in Dallas/Fort Worth two weeks ago. Yes, pink is the color for breast cancer, we sleep in pink tents, most of the 4000 walkers wear something pink, and the survivor walkers get pink t-shirts. However, I would like to suggest just a little change to one of your choices.
We’ll Two Kick– insert the current word of the moment- Ass! at present the word seems to be repeat surgery. What next? chemo, radiation, reconstructive surgery. Since there are two of you to fight this the play on words by wordsmiths, and make your letters pink. By the way you are considered a survivor after your surgery, so Andrea you are a breast cancer survivor, start counting the days, months, years.
Writing about breast cancer is therapeutic and helpful for others going through it. I have a pin that says Chicks kicking asphalt with a pink breast cancer ribbon, Andrea, you kick cancer ass.

I like the sound of ‘A Breasted Development”, but having just done a Google search for same, it appears that there is already some “media” with that title.
Swerve is my second favourite. Implies that you’re *temporarily* off track and will swerve back onto the road that is (normal?) life after this little detour.

I’m a hopeless sentimentalist as well as a fighter so my nomination for your podcast name is “Dancing at my daughter’s wedding”. It covers both the immediate emotional battles as well as the long haul.
Hope it helps you decide on a title – the podcast content is the most important part and I don’t doubt youse guys will nail that…
