culture.ca launches new podcast directory

culture.ca podcast directoryThe Canadian Government in partnership with the National Arts Centre, and the help of Collectik, launched a new directory of Canadian podcasts earlier this week on their culture.ca website.

The directory is available in English and French versions and focuses on podcasts that have a Canadian cultural slant. The definition of culture seems to include everything that isn’t specifically sports and science.

PodcastForum.ca, a free forum service for Canadian Podcasts

Bill Deys (DeysCast, Country Music Cast) has launched a free forum service for Canadian Podcasters.  The site, known as Podcast Forum (www.PodcastForum.ca), allows registered Podcasts to independently administer their own forum.  In addition to show-specific forums, Bill has set up forums for topics including general discussion, gear/studio, software/editing, and meetups.

Perhaps the greatest feature of the site is that registered users can participate in all member forums using a single logon.

After a week of “official operation”, the site already hosts forums for Country Music Cast, DeysCast, I Beg To Differ, Online Music Marketing, The Twisted Wrist, and the Uncle Seth Podcast.

CanadaPodcasts.ca cleanup underway

The cleanup of the Canadian Podcast directory at www.canadapodcasts.ca is underway. We’ll be removing entries that:

  • are completely obsolete (without a website and feed)
  • have been stagnant for 90-days, or more
  • have inaccurate website, RSS or iTunes information

If you have an entry on the directory, please take the time to tweak your Podcast description for accuracy and make sure that it is as short as possible using the 10-second pitch principle.

Please review your information on the directory and if any changes are necessary, submit an update using the link at the top of the directory. We will complete the cleanup on December 1.
