Bloggin’ and Travelin’
I admit that I haven’t been blogging much lately. In fact, it’s been pointed out to me on a few occassions that my blog is collecting dust.
My reasons for letting it slip are all good — I’ve been busy with client work. This has kept me busy at home and has resulted in the kind of travel I haven’t done since 1998 when I spent a majority of my time bouncing around North and South America for my then employer, TimeStep.
Besides social media strategy and podcast production work, I was contracted to produce two radio commercials. It’s funny to think of going ‘backward’ to traditional broadcast media work. The truth is, it was easy and fun and I had the authority to make script and prodcution decisions. Both the client and I are very pleased with the results. It brought back memories of being part of the production team for two anti drinking and driving PSAs during my co-op work term at the University of Ottawa’s CHUO (back then it was a cable radio station, CHUO, not CFUO as it’s known now).
Today, I fly to Edmonton for a speaking engagement and tomorrow I make my way to attend Third Coast, an annual audio festival hosted by Chicago Public Radio. I’ve heard that it’s a religious experience for audio geeks like me.
I may be hard to reach for the next few days. However, I plan to be more active with my blogging particularly since I know a number of people who would like to be at Third Coast and won’t be.
